SEATTLE- Washington became a state in 1889. That same year, George H. Bartell bought his first pharmacy in Seattle. There are fewer things in the Puget Sound Area that are more local than Bartell’s. Serving the Northwest for 129 years, Bartell’s is dedicated to supporting the local community including those that live in the area as well as local businesses. Calling out “localness” is popular lately. But to Bartell’s, being local means more. “Local” is in the very fabric of how Bartell’s operates; it is a brand pillar and a major point of focus.
By supporting local businesses, Bartell’s strengthens the already deep connection to the community and helps create opportunity for homegrown products looking to break into the retail space. With over 150 local products in stores, Bartell’s has helped many companies connect with the public include Liberty Orchards, Brown & Haley, Tim’s Cascade Chips, Theo Chocolates, NUUN and Wet Noses Dog treats, to name a few.
For the month of February, Bartell’s celebrates local with many local products highlighted in the stores. Showcasing products from this region builds a sense of community and pride for Bartell’s, customers and the great products created in the Pacific Northwest.
Beginning today, February 4th, Bartell’s is offering an opportunity for fans to show their local pride by voting on their favorite local company. Sixteen local brands will rely on the support of their following to help them advance through four rounds of matchups. Mirroring the style of a single-elimination bracket, the companies that advance will be challenged by other local brands until one is crowned the winner of Bartell’s “Vote Local Tournament of Champions”. The winning company will receive additional exposure from Bartell’s including a professional video spotlight to be shared on all social channels.
